Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Meissen, established in Saxony in 1710, was the first European manufactory to produce hard-paste porcelain. During the 19th century, the factory revisited Rococo traditions, producing elaborate reticulated (pierced) porcelain vessels decorated with three-dimensional flower and fruit encrustations, which were frequently converted or mounted as luxury table lamps.

These lamps are crafted from hard-paste porcelain that was pierced by hand while still unfired clay, creating an openwork lattice. Individual clay flowers and fruits were sculpted and applied by hand prior to double-firing, glazing, and hand-painting. Brass or gilt-bronze mounts and electrical fittings were added later.

Authentic pieces feature the iconic crossed swords mark in underglaze cobalt blue on the underside or base rim. Look for fine detail in the hand-modelled floral work, precise openwork piercing, high-quality gilding, and the characteristic heavy, smooth texture of genuine hard-paste porcelain.

Position them symmetrically on a sideboard, console table, or bedside tables to frame a space. The combination of elaborate ceramic work and neutral pleated shades complements both traditional period schemes and modern layered interiors requiring classical texture.

Dust delicate floral encrustations and lattice openings regularly using a clean, soft-bristled artist brush or compressed air. Avoid liquid immersion or harsh chemical cleaners, and clean brass components carefully with a dry microfibre cloth to prevent tarnish transfer to the porcelain.
