• Georgian Diamond And Pearl Blue Enamel Chain Drop Earrings

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: The Earring Curator

Beautiful regal chain drop earrings, each with a single rose-cut diamond set in silver atop a deep royal blue enamel teardrop framed in gold inside a halo of gleaming natural seed pearls. Phew! The typically Georgian balloon backs and the ear wires are solid rose gold.

The construction of the back indicates the earrings were likely converted from another piece of jewellery, as has been common throughout history as owners update their collections.

• Condition: The earrings are in very good antique condition; one rose gold back has a tiny dimple and under magnification a tiny repair to the enamel on one earring is visible.

• Fixing: Nine-carat (375) gold ear wires, likely later, supplied with tiny silicone keepers for security.

• Era: Georgian, 19th century.

• Size: 3.5cm from the top of the ear wire to the bottom of the drop. The main body of each earring measures approximately 1.3 x 1.6cm.

• Weight: 4.3g.
