• Victorian 15ct Gold Cherub Button Earrings

These little Victorian cherubs are lovely and crisp and rendered in gold of an unmistakably rich high-carat colour.

• Condition: The posts have been soldered a little clumsily (almost certainly converted long ago from buttons) but the earrings are in excellent antique condition.

• Fixing: Nine-carat gold butterflies.

• Hallmarks/stamps: Each earring bears a 15CT plaque on the reverse and has been tested to confirm it is 15-carat gold. Fifteen-carat gold pieces are not overly common (in the UK only really used between 1854 and 1932) and this metal fineness was generally used in high quality pieces.

• Era: Victorian.

• Size: 1.4cm diameter.
