A rare Elizabeth I Oak Coffer in remarkably good original condition, having lovely clean surface and warm colour.
The front with carved arcaded panels, the spandrels to the corners with carved foliate and the top rail with nulling. The ends carved with nulling and the panels with applied cut moulding to form a turret effect. The interior is in very good clean condition with the original candle box, the hinges are old but later replacements. The underneath is wonderfully untouched and has a golden colour and dry surface. This is an impressive piece In very solid condition. Circa 1600
