Description

A beautiful Victorian locket and chain showcasing a polished slice of agate, which shows all its lovely colours and striped banding when held up to the light. Both the chain and locket are made in slightly rosy nine-carat gold.

The bail at the top of the locket unscrews to enable the frame to open - the agate is covered with a bevelled glass on one side so a photograph/picture/pressed flower etc could be inserted between them.

Marked 375 (nine-carat gold) on the clasp and 9C on a plaque on the chain.

In very good antique condition. The springring clasp is a slightly yellower gold and likely a more recent replacement.

Chain length: Approximately 60cm, 23.5 inches.

Locket size: Approximately 4.3 x 3.5cm, 4.3cm total drop.

Weight: 19.2g.
