Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Silver baby rattles featuring whistle ends and coral teethers became popular luxury items during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Coral was historically believed to protect infants from illness, while silver provided a durable, hygienic metal casing for the whistle and bells.

Georgian rattles were typically crafted from sterling silver with hand-engraved or chased decoration. They incorporated small cast silver bells, a whistle mouthpiece at one end, and a polished piece of natural red coral at the other end to serve as a teether.

Authentic pieces carry British hallmarking, including a makers mark, town mark, lion passant for sterling silver purity, and a date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture. The construction features hand-soldered components and period-appropriate bright-cut engraving.

Small antique silver objects are ideal for display inside glass cloches, shadow boxes, or on velvet-lined trays within a cabinet of curiosities. Positioned alongside framed historical prints or mounted on a custom stand, they serve as focal points on a bookshelf or desk.

Silver components should be cleaned gently using a soft, non-abrasive silver polishing cloth without submerging the piece in chemical dips. Coral is porous and sensitive, so it must be kept free from liquid silver cleaners, direct sunlight, and excessive humidity.
