This is a lovely antique sterling silver needle case, dating from the Edwardian era.
Although the hallmarks are quite rubbed, we can see by the shape that they belong to the very late Victorian or Edwardian era.
The pull off lid is a tight fit and is attached to the body via four eyes, holding the chain in place, ensuring the lid cannot be lost. The chain terminates in a large suspension ring for attaching to a chatelaine, or maybe it''s a finger ring?
This is a quality silver item and whilst there are a number of small dents it is a fantastic piece of history which could tell a few stories.
