Antique Early Victorian Silver Pounce Pot

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: The Silver Cabinet

This is a very elegant example of a solid sterling silver pounce pot, dating from the beginning of the Victoria era.

It is clearly hallmarked for London 1840, with the maker''s mark for Charles Fox II. The engraved decoration incorporates a cartouche which features a rather worn family crest. The pull off lid fits tightly and the gilding inside is in excellent condition. The pot stands on a circular pedestal base.
