ANTIQUE #SA913532

Handsome Kurdish Carpet, West Persia, Late 19th Century, 3.33m X 2.04m (10'11" X 6'9")

£6,500    $8,711    €7,614
Woven on an all wool foundation this antique Kurdish carpet from Persian Kurdistan, West Persia, has great presence. A boldly drawn intricate anchor medallion floats above a rich sapphire field. The weaver has dispensed with all secondary ornamentation around the medallion, but has added lovely golden yellow spandrels and terracotta borders. It is a very classical piece with wonderful hand spun wool and natural dyes. It has survived in very good condition with only minor signs of wear and tear commensurate with its age. Professionally cleaned in our workshops. This handsome carpet would make a colourful and striking addition to your decorative scheme, period or contemporary.
