18th Century Panelled Oak Coffer

Description

A good example of an english Oak Coffer dating from the mid 18th Century. It has a traditional panelled construction standing on four block feet. It is a simple plain design and has never been over-carved. The lid has its original ring hinges and it is generally clean and tidy inside with its original floor.

It is in good original condition. It has developed a beautiful rich patina and is strong and sturdy. There are signs of age and use, some minor shrinkage splits in the top panels and floor and light knocks here and there but nothing detrimental and it displays well. The lock has been removed at some point. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
