We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Art Deco lighting emerged in the 1920s and 1930s, characterised by sleek modernism, geometric precision, and luxurious materials that reflected the machine age and industrial progress.

These pieces typically utilised chromium-plated metal, spelter, frosted mould-blown glass, and occasionally bronze or brass, often paired with synthetic resin bases.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit period-correct wiring methods, maker signatures or foundry marks on the base or shade, and weight appropriate to cast metals rather than lightweight modern plastics.

Place the lamp on a dark wood sideboard or sleek credenza to highlight its metallic sheen, pairing it with neutral backdrops to let the distinctive silhouette stand out.

Dust frosted glass gently with a soft microfibre cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners on plated metal surfaces to prevent stripping the vintage finish.
