This Georgian Mule chest has a candle box with an elm lid and a very unusual internal locking mechanism to the drawer, there is a carved piece of ash that slides down the inside of the front of the box and engages into the drawer to prevent its opening

The top of the box has a moulded edge, blacksmith made strap hinges and the chest has an elm bottom. This good rustic piece is in its original finish and is in good sound condition for its age
The box it measures 42’’ wide x 19’’ deep and stands 27’’ high
