Description

Lovely size late 17th century oak 6 plank coffer with original carved front. Basically it is in pretty good condition for its age and is a nice colour with waxed finish. The front is very pleasing with the carved flutes to the top and scratch carved decoration below with original iron lock plate. The ends are a nice shape. The solid top has a thumb moulded edge. It has its original candle box inside. The iron hinges are good old Victorian replacements in the same place as the originals would have been, there is an old secure split to the top and the original lock clasp is missing.
