Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian silver cutlery sets produced between 1901 and 1910 often feature refined scrollwork, foliate engraving, and classic motifs such as shells. During this period, specialised dining utensils, including preserve spoons, butter knives, and pickle forks, were crafted for afternoon tea and formal dining occasions.

These serving sets were typically constructed from sterling silver or high-grade silver plate, frequently featuring handles and blades stamped with official assay marks. They were housed in velvet- and silk-lined wood or leatherette presentation cases designed to protect the metal work from tarnishing and abrasion.

Authentic Sheffield silver pieces bear a distinct set of British hallmarks, including the crown mark for the Sheffield assay office, the lion passant indicating sterling purity, and a specific date letter corresponding to 1906. Manufacturer initials are also stamped into the metal near the collar or blade.

An antique cased silver set can be styled open on a sideboard or displayed within a glass-fronted cabinet alongside contemporary tableware. The individual serving pieces can also be incorporated into active table settings during dinner parties and afternoon tea.

Silver pieces should be cleaned gently using a non-abrasive silver cloth or mild silver polish to remove oxidisation without wearing away surface details. Presentation cases should be kept in dry environments away from direct sunlight to preserve the silk lining and exterior leatherette.
