Large and exceptional black lacquered trunk (nagamochi) - Lacquered wood - Japan - Edo period with elaborate decorated high quality silvered metal fittings. The Mon crests rendered in Gold leaf on all sides. The hinges to back of lid allow for the domed top to be removed completely allowing easier access.
The interior in clean condition with original papered linings.
Condition:in overall good condition but some flaking to lacquer particularly on sides of the lid as shown in photos.
