Description

A fine post Edwardian George V era silver mounted hobnail cut glass scent bottle with good clear hallmarks for London 1911. The silver mounted lid, hinge and collar are integral, and the hallmarks appear on the collar. There is a smaller hallmark inside the lid. The lid and collar are decorated with fine engine turned bands and line engraving. The centre of the top bears a stag’s head crest on a plain circular shield, surrounded by line engraving and bands of engine turned decoration. The hinge is strong, the stopper is original and the interior is gilt sprayed, a sign of quality. The base is star cut. The body is hobnail cut with a slice cut shoulder. All in all, a graceful good quality scent bottle I. Very good condition.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

These vessels were crafted during the early 20th century to contain liquid perfume, featuring cut glass bodies fitted with sterling silver collars and tops.

They are predominantly constructed from heavy cut crystal or lead glass paired with hallmarked sterling silver caps and collars.

Authentic pieces display official British hallmarks stamped onto the silver collar or lid, indicating the assay office mark, silver purity mark, maker mark, and date letter.

Place the bottle on a bedside table, vanity tray, or bathroom counter alongside polished glass or metallic accessories to catch and reflect light.

Clean the glass exterior using a soft cloth dampened with mild soapy water, avoiding total immersion, and gentle wipe the silver top with a dedicated silver polishing cloth to remove tarnish.
