A rare and probably unique 17th Century Oak Bureau of superb colour, in remarkably original condition retaining the original turned knobs, escutcheons, hinges and lock to the fall. The drawer fronts and framework with applied mouldings. The deeply moulded applied base mould and feet are original. The interior is fitted with small drawers with an open well to the centre. The ends having an arrangement of fielded panels, the back is also paneled. The drawer linings are made in Oak, they are in good clean original condition. The fall and top unusually are overhanging and decorated with a thumb mould to the outer edge. The fall is also fitted with a reading rest.
