Victorian Art Nouveau Oak Breakfront Bookcase Attributed to Maple & Co

Description

A beautiful Victorian three door breakfront bookcase or display cabinet attributed to Maple & Co and in the Art Nouveau/Arts & Crafts taste. In golden quarter-sawn oak with bevelled glass panes to the glazed doors it features a reeded and dentil moulded cornice with carved floral roundels and fluting to the frieze, panelled drawers and cupboard doors superbly carved with scrolling acanthus leaves.

Unusually this bookcase comes with both original adjustable wooden shelves and a set of six adjustable glass shelves so it can be also be used as a display cabinet. Fitted with original brass handles and with working keys for the doors. It has also had additional finger catches added inside the central door for convenience. In very good condition and able to store a 7.38m / 24ft 2in run of books.

The internal cabinet dimensions are:

This bookcase divides for moving and the top should be screwed to the base on assembly.
