FAQs

A gasolier is a ceiling-mounted lighting fixture designed to burn coal gas, popular during the Victorian era before the widespread adoption of electricity.

These fixtures were predominantly constructed from brass, bronze, and iron, often featuring hand-spun metal shades and intricate cast metal components.

Authentic pieces typically feature original gas keys, threaded metal tubing, and weight-driven mechanisms or swivel joints that were used to control gas flow.

An antique gasolier serves as a striking focal point above a dining table or kitchen island, bridging historic character with modern functional lighting.

Dust gently with a soft microfibre cloth and avoid harsh chemical polishes to preserve the natural oxidisation and patina built up over centuries.
