Miles Griffiths Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
All three are in the original finish and they all have interesting paper labels that relate to the owners. Such as the metal bound camphor box and a pine version that were owned by Colonol S.T.Polley ( Sydney Trepess Polley) who was in the Indian Army and became a major. Another box was owned by Lietenant Colonol L.G. Fischer I.M.S (medical core) in the Indian Army. Interestingly, Sydney Polley went on to marry Fischer's sister Nora in 1915, in her married name Nora Polley, she went on to be the first female to represent India in the 1924 Summer Olympics in Tennis! Two of these antique military boxes have the original tin metal liners with iron carrying handles to each end. All three of these interesting antique military boxes are in very good condition and all totally original.
