Description

A mid 18th century four panel linen chest, c1750. The cupboard has arched and fielded panels to the front and square panel to the ends, fine quality carving. Quarter reeded columns with stop chamfer. Superb faded, mellow colour with a waxed patination. Pine drawer liners with original handles and shaped bracket feet. Original condition throughout with no splits to the panels, great proportion, smart and usable. This type of chest was often given as part of a woman’s dower and are often called dower chests.
