Description:
The trunk has been French polished by hand, in our workshop, to a professional standard, and is finished with a scrubbed & stained finish. The trunk is constructed with a single plank top, with a joined box below. The original lid features a straight edge and retains its original iron strap hinges. The interior is clean, dry and practical and usable. The interior also retains its original floorboards and backboards. The trunk also retains its original steel working lock (with key). The sides incorporate steel carrying handles. The trunk stands on its original plinth base. The back of the trunk retains its original panels along with the original floor.
Condition Report:
The trunk is in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the top, external sides and leading edges, but nothing significant considering the age of the item (see photos). The trunk has been French polished by hand, in our workshop, to a professional standard, and is finished with a scrubbed & stained finish. The interior is clean, dry, and usable. The original steel hinges are in good working condition. The trunk retains its original lid, floor, sides and back. The trunk also retains its original steel working lock (with key). The trunk retains its original colour and patination to the exterior. The trunk is solid in joint; it does not wobble on the floor and is ready to use.
