Description:
The ottoman has been newly & professionally upholstered with traditional horsehair filling and top-quality full grain red-brown leather and benefits from a sumptuous deep buttoned seat. The seat is hinged and opens to reveal a spacious interior, which has been lined with brown fabric. The original hinges to the lid are strong and in good condition. The lid is also secured when open by two stay straps. The underside of the ottoman retains the original wooden boards. The ottoman incorporates a moulded mahogany frame at the base and stands on replacement elegant turned bun feet, incorporating solid brass castors.
Condition Report:
The ottoman is in excellent condition having been newly upholstered to a professional standard in full grain leather. Therefore, the leather upholstery is new and free from damage, rips, and marks. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the mahogany moulded frame and bun feet but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The frame is solid and in sound condition with no loose movements. The original hinges to the lid are strong and in good condition. The lid stay straps are replacements. The ottoman stands on replacement elegant turned bun feet, incorporating replacement solid brass castors, which are in excellent condition. The ottoman sits firm on the ground and does not wobble; the brass castors are in excellent condition.
The mahogany frame has a fantastic rich brown colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. This item is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
