Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Qashqai Shiraz rugs originated from nomadic tribes in southwestern Persia, woven primarily in the Fars province near the city of Shiraz. These textiles feature geometric medallions, repetitive motifs such as the boteh or teardrop pattern, and mineral-dyed colour palettes.

Traditionally, Qashqai carpets are hand-knotted using locally sourced hand-spun sheeps wool for both the pile and the foundation. Artisans employed symmetric or asymmetric knots with natural plant- and insect-based dyes to create reds, blues, terracottas, and cream hues.

Authentic early 20th-century pieces display flexible all-wool foundations, subtle design asymmetry indicative of tribal weaving, and natural abrash colour variations in the pile. The presence of traditional motifs, such as stylized birds or geometric boteh shapes, helps establish regional origin.

A tribal rug serves as an anchoring element in living rooms, dining areas, or studies, balancing neutral minimalist decor or enhancing eclectic spaces. Pairing terracotta and navy tones with natural timber furniture, leather upholstery, and muted walls creates visual contrast.

To preserve a hand-knotted wool rug, vacuum regularly using a suction-only setting without a rotating beater bar to protect the pile. Rotate the rug annually to ensure even wear, blot liquid spills immediately with a clean cloth, and use professional rug cleaning services when required.
