Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian brass candlesticks, typically manufactured between 1837 and 1901, feature heavy cast metal construction, turned baluster stems, and distinctive knopped or faceted design elements.

During the mid-to-late 19th century, candlesticks were predominantly cast in brass using two-part sand moulds, finished on a lathe, and often featured internal push-up mechanisms to remove burnt candle stubs.

Authentic period examples often exhibit seam lines from two-part casting inside the hollow base, hand-turned finishing marks, significant physical weight, and natural wear patterns or minor oxidisation.

A pair of polished brass candlesticks can be displayed on a fireplace mantelpiece, dining table, or sideboard to create architectural symmetry and warm metallic accents.

Dust regularly with a soft cloth and remove wax residue using warm water rather than sharp tools; specialised metal polish can be applied sparingly to maintain shine, or left unpolished to develop a natural patina.
