Size: 8ft 5in x 5ft 3in (256 x 161cm).

A fine Persian Bijar region kilim with French influenced floral design.

Circa 1890.

A very good example with a small central medallion surrounded by a red ground. The kilim has a floral deign similar to that found in French aubusson.

Excellent condition with very slight even wear.

A fine but strong kilim suitable for light floor use

Hand washed and ready for use or display.

Traditional Bijar kilims are flatwoven using hand-spun wool for both the warp and weft. Craftspeople utilise a slit-weave technique where coloured weft threads are woven across sections to form crisp geometric patterns, resulting in a durable, pileless rug.
