Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Saryk Turkmen rugs originate from Central Asia and are distinguished by their deep red fields and structured geometric layouts. They typically feature repeating octagonal tribal medallions, known as guls, often executed with turreted edges and intricate secondary cross motifs.

Traditional Turkmen carpets were hand-knotted using locally sourced hand-spun wool for both the pile and the foundation structure. Dyes were derived from natural plant and mineral sources, creating rich shades of madder red, dark indigo, walnut brown, and ivory.

Authentic pieces from this era exhibit dense hand-knotting, subtle natural colour variations known as abrash, and a soft wool pile. The presence of traditional tribal guls, wool warp and weft construction, and natural dye mellowing visible on the reverse help confirm authenticity.

A Turkmen rug provides a rich textural foundation that anchors contemporary, industrial, or traditional room schemes. Its geometric pattern and deep red tones contrast effectively against polished concrete, pale timber floorboards, or neutral upholstered furniture.

Vacuum gently using a suction-only nozzle without a rotary brush bar to avoid damaging the pile fibres. Position a high-quality underlay beneath the carpet to prevent slippage and wear, and consult a specialist conservator for periodic professional cleaning.
