Intricate geometric and floriate design inlaid 'shisham' oblong trunk with iron carrying handles to the ends , having heart-shaped back-plates possibly signifying it's origin as a marriage chest or love token . Ebony and bone chequer banding , the top and sides with ovoid reserve panels . The hinged lift-up lid and front fitted with a later iron hasp for securing a padlock . The interior with simple divisions to one end . The rear of the chest with a carved 'stay' to support the opened lid .

Inlaid with bone to all sides and lid , in good original condition with no losses or damage . Has some historic marks and stains commensurate with age, use and purpose. Good original dry surface and pale patina.
Interesting Indian chest with an decorative and opulent atmospheric appeal .
