Small C19th Chinese Export brass-bound camphor travelling chest or trunk .

Desk-top size Campaign or travel chest with brass strappings , fittings and carrying handles . Constructed in insect-repellent scented camphor for use in the tropics .

The lid with brass lock and recessed finger loop for opening, the ends fitted with sturdy carrying handles . The interior fitted with a lidded compartment to one end for candles or valuables.

In good original condition with a golden hue and patination. The brass with some dents and wear commensurate with age , use and purpose. Minor warp to lid closing.

Remnants of old evocative travel or steamer labels . No key.
