1910-1930 a Large Moreau Spelter Lamp

1900 - 1920
Description

Circa 1910-1930 a tall spelter lamp by the famous Moreau foundry with the signature on the base. A young girl is holding a flower pot on her shoulder, with two small light fittings inside the flowers.

The lamp measures 75cm at the tallest section and the original marble base is approximately 18cm in diameter. The Moreau signature can be seen in photo 7.

The lamp was rewired using dark flex cable and fitted with an online switch by the previous owner and will require an up to date PAT test before use.

It is in very good condition and the details are crisp and clear with no signs of damage or repair.

This large table lamp dates from the 1920 Art Nouveau period and is made from dark brown bronzed spelter mounted on a round red marble plinth. The French Chateau style piece takes the form of a sculpted standing cherub figure holding an urn on her shoulder, from which emerge tall floral stem lights with petal-like brass holders and slender catkin stems. The surface shows crisp, clear detailing throughout the figurative sculpture, including flowing hair, expressive facial features, drapery wrapped around the waist, and a textured rocky outcrop base resting on the circular stone foundation.
