A very unusual, possibly unique, apprentice piece miniature chest with reel holder superstructure. The chest has all the signs of being an apprentice piece of miniature furniture in that it is beautifully made with all dovetailed drawers but it has obviously been made with the purpose of being used as a needlework or work box and so the bobbin turning has been made to hold cotton reels. The whole is in excellent condition and has a great untouched colour and patina. The quality of the mahogany is superb as one would expect of an apprentice piece. This really is a fine and unusual miniature piece in excellent condition. C.1860.
