A Mid 19thc Trunk

Description

A mid 19thC pine trunk painted in original scumble finish. (Combed decoration). Shaped bracket feet. Owners crests to the lid and front. Original brass lock escutcheon and iron lock. Original hinges. The interior of the lid is braced and cutaways in the front and rear edges are made for these to locate when the trunk lid is closed. This has ensured that the lid has never cracked. The feet have their original backing blocks.

The interior has a lided candle box which has two drawers below both with brass pulls. The lhs drawer front is false and has a concealed locking pin rendering that compartment inaccessible unless you are aware of the pin location.

98 cms wide by 53 cm deep and 55 cm high.

A good coffee table size.
