19th Century Padouk Campaign Trunk

Description

A superb 19th Century padouk campaign trunk with original twin brass locks, fittings and substantial brass handles. The inner tray lifts out to reveal an exceptionally clean interior. The planked top is inset with the brass initials, W.S of the original owner, possibly an eminent figure who travelled to India and distant parts of the Empire on government business or military campaigns!

The condition is very good, there are a few marks to the top and a very small piece missing from the side of the tray insert. The colour and patina are excellent. Today this piece offers many uses in the modern home, either as a coffee table with extra storage or as a bedding chest.
