Brass-bound for strength and durability with dome-stud decoration. Fitted with heavy-gauge brass lifting/carrying handles to each end . The front with a decorative swagged stud design, fitted with a shaped Chinoiserie-style escutcheon plate and supplied with its original steel key . The hinged lid with central oblong re-entrant corner studded design , the front edge fitted with a ring handle. Constructed in highly-scented exotic camphor wood to deter moths and pests ,and in order to provide the contents protection from such deterioration .

In good original order with some marks , scuffs and dents to the metal-work and leather exterior commensurate with age, use and purpose. Minor losses to stud-work. Desirable decorative deep red hue , setting it apart from the usual black leather variety.
Would work well as a coffee table with useful storage.
