An Antique Indian Marraige Trunk

Description

An interesting and unusual antique Indian marraige chest. Original green paint with ornate iron work decoration and silvered studs. This dates from the mid 19thC and has seen substantial use. Some minor ironwork is missing. The key does not engage the lock but does cause the bell to ring when turned (an old security measure to signal when someone is trying to open the lid. Two interior candle boxes. The interior is hand decorated in and Indian style with later William Morris leaf walpaper panels.

Slightly domed top.
