Unusual Antique English Figural Dish By William Padley C.1890

A really unusual late Victorian silver plated dish formed by two hands cupped together. I am not sure if this dish was for a particular use, such as for visiting cards.
 
The handle is of naturalistic form with grapevine decoration. The underside of each hand is struck with the retailer''s mark ( Pearce of Leeds and Huddersfield). The silversmith''s makers mark is also present for the well renowned Sheffield maker of William Padley.
 
Excellent condition, measuring 8'' x 5 1/2'' x 4'' tall to top of handle.
