Brass Bound Camphor Wood Travelling Trunk - P&osn Co Labels

Description

wonderful camphor wood travelling trunk with brass bindings and substantial iron carrying handles to the sides...the labels on each side are testament to its history, they are for the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company on a passage from Shanghai to London.

this characterful trunk has old repairs, normal shrinkage splits, marks and scuffs etc, all the normal signs commensurate with its age and history, one catch is missing from the front but none of these things detract from the trunk at all, it really is a fabulous piece in overall good sturdy condition and would make a wonderful coffee table, the tin lining also permits a multitude of storage uses too.
