Leather and Brass Studded Storage Trunk

19th century
Description

Circa 1820, very unusual leather and brass studded storage trunk. The leather is well worn but still has a stylish look about it. The top with its studded sections giving a pattern in the centre almost like a cartouche has got a large brass plaque saying "Alex Ritchie". The quarter brackets and straps are proud and all made in cast brass. The top is hinged and opens to reveal a paper lined interior. The front and sides also have studding. There are 2 large lifting handles left and right in cast iron. Again these are framed in studs. There are further brass brackets and straps throughout.

Size 48cm high x 89cm wide x 44cm deep.
