Description

A beautiful example of a large 19th century general-purpose storage trunk. This wonderful military campaign chest – ideal at the end of a bed or for use as a coffee table – has all of its brass edging and corner protectors, a flush fitting front lifting handle, and the original lifting handles to each end. It retains its original finish throughout, with a particularly rich, warm, lived-in look and a glowing patina. It is English, dating from c.1850 – c.1875. There is a working key to the original lock.
