A set of four Art Deco wall lights from the 1930 period, designed with a distinct fan shape, a stepped profile, a geometric silhouette, and a flared rim. The fixtures are constructed from metal with a polished chrome finish in a reflective silver colour. The design includes three layered stepped tiers radiating from a pointed base up to the wide curved top edge, presenting a balanced geometric layout across all four matching pieces. Each individual sconce measures 25 cm high by 36 cm wide by 22 cm deep. These functional wall luminaires are fully rewired and PAT tested for modern use. The lighting fixtures mount directly to a wall surface to provide upward illumination in a living room, hallway, bedroom, or dining space. They fit well within period schemes, modern minimalist apartments, or eclectic interiors looking for authentic vintage metalwork details. The smooth metallic surfaces reflect interior lighting, while the stepped motifs bring classic 1930s character to domestic architectural spaces.

FAQs

Art Deco lighting from the 1920s and 1930s is defined by geometric forms, stepped profiles, chevron patterns, and fan-shaped silhouettes. The era emphasised modern industrial materials such as polished chrome, nickel, pressed glass, and bakelite.

Art Deco sconces were commonly crafted from pressed or cast brass and iron, which were then electroplated in chrome or nickel to produce a bright, silver metallic finish. Glass shades, frosted panels, or solid metal uplighting shields were frequently integrated into the construction.

Authentic period fixtures often feature heavy cast metal bases underneath the plating, aged backplates with historic mounting holes, and remnants of period cloth wiring. Original chrome plating may show subtle age-related surface pitting or micro-crazing near fixing points.

Mounted on dark or saturated painted walls, chrome Art Deco sconces provide strong geometric contrast and directional light. They are effective when installed in pairs along hallways, flanking bathroom mirrors, or accenting living room alcoves.

Chrome surfaces should be wiped gently with a clean, dry microfibre cloth to remove dust and fingerprints. To prevent damage to original plating, abrasive polishes and harsh chemical solvents must be avoided.
