Description

A most attractive example of an early 19th century solid elm general-purpose storage trunk. It is of understated plain design and the beautifully well-figured timbers have a rich golden colour. The rounded-edged-top lifts on its original wrought iron hinges to reveal a capacious single storage compartment. This wonderful Georgian box can act as a blanket storage chest or could double as a useful coffee table. It is English, c.1800 – 1825 and there is working key.
