Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This original French Art Deco wall light, dating from 1930, functions as a single lighting fixture designed for a narrow wall space. The piece consists of a curved polished chrome reflector body flanked by pale aqua moulded wing fins with a streamlined fan profile, manufactured from a combination of chrome, lucite, and glass in silver and pale aqua tones. The design employs smooth metallic curves and sculptural side elements with distinct scrolling flourishes. Practical dimensions measure 36 cm high, 30 cm wide, and 10 cm deep. Suitable for placement in a hallway, bedroom, or living area, the fixture mounts directly onto a wall to provide ambient illumination. The reflective chrome surface creates a luminous backdrop while the coloured lucite wings frame the light source, fitting into period or contemporary interiors seeking a touch of 1930s glamour.

FAQs

French Art Deco lighting from the 1920s and 1930s features geometric symmetry, streamlined curves, and industrial-inspired materials like polished chrome, frosted glass, and early acrylics, reflecting the eras focus on modernism and speed.

Authentic period sconces commonly utilised nickel-plated or chrome-plated brass, molded glass, pressed frosted glass, and early synthetic polymers such as Lucite or Bakelite to achieve sleek, modern reflective surfaces.

Look for signs of age on the metallic backings, metric threading on original fixings, period-appropriate glass moulding marks, and evidence of original French bayonet or screw bulb holders.

Position wall sconces on narrow wall spaces, in hallways, or flanking a bathroom mirror to provide architectural interest, ambient uplighting, and a crisp metallic contrast against contemporary paint schemes.

Clean polished chrome components with a soft microfibre cloth and specialized chrome cleaner, avoiding harsh abrasives; wipe Lucite or glass panels gently with a damp cloth and mild soap solution.
