M Lees and Sons has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
Heavily constructed with all original iron-bound strapping , hasps and carrying handles. Each chest has been adapted to house a single fitted removable tray above the open void beneath. All locks have been altered and do not function , and no keys are present.

Each chest has a gently arched dome-top profile , but are flat enough for use as a table .
All fitted with an engraved brass plaque numbered 1-5 , bearing the inscription "The Hon. Hubert Beaumont" . Hubert Beaumont (1864-1922) was a British Liberal Party politician , styled The Honourable from 1906.

Would work well in either a large domestic setting or in a commercial environment as tables or storage chests.
Cleaned and waxed .
