Cloverleaf Home Interiors has dated this piece to the 1750s.
The top is a single plank carefully chosen for wonderful figure and grain. The top has mitred corners and is overslung with decorative moulding beneath. This moulding is also replicated on the base above the feet. The chest sits on the original feet/stand which often become seperated and lost. Internally the chest retains the original strap hinges and a candle or herb box. The lock is replaced but the key is original. These chests are rarely seen and do not often come to the market place. The chest is a fantastic example of its type and in great retail condition. The dimensions are approx 24 inches high 44 wide and 22 deep.
