This pair of large Neoclassical table lamps, dating from 1900, takes the form of classic classical urns. Each lamp pairs a smooth white glass body with dark bronze mounts, including cast metal handles joined by delicate bronze swags and detailed decorative foliage along the circular base and stem. Above the urns sit rectangular fabric shades featuring light cream central panels framed by dark blue and black patterned borders. The matching pair measures 84 cm in height and 23 cm in diameter. Positioned on top of a sideboard in a formal dining room or grand hallway, these lamps bring height and traditional illumination to a space. The robust bronze hardware provides a striking contrast against the bright white glass body, while the structured fabric shades cast a warm, downward light. The balanced proportions make them suitable for flanking a large mirror or anchoring either end of a wide console table.

Neoclassical table lamps from the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries frequently incorporate urn-shaped central bodies, cast bronze or brass mounts, and classical motifs such as swags, wreaths, and foliage.

These lamps are constructed using cast bronze or brass for the structural mounts and bases, combined with blown or moulded opaque white glass or porcelain bodies, topped with woven fabric lampshades.

Authentic pieces feature detailed definition from lost-wax or sand casting, natural surface oxidisation on metal elements, substantial physical weight, and evidence of historic rewiring around socket assemblies.

Positioning a matching pair symmetrically on a dining room sideboard, a foyer console table, or flanking a sofa creates visual balance and introduces architectural scale to contemporary spaces.

Clean the glass body with a soft microfibre cloth slightly dampened with water, while dusting metal mounts using a dry natural-bristle brush, avoiding abrasive liquid polishes that strip historic patina.
