The lift up lid opens on its original wrought iron hinges to reveal a large single storage compartment. There is a working lock and key. This eye-catching coffer of long proportions is sometimes referred to as a sword chest. It dates from c.1760 to c.1790, is in superb condition, and has its original finish with a truly superb rich colour and patination.
