This antique coffer was made from the timber and panels of the original church steeple of Hornblottons Church, Hornblotton, near Shepton Mallet, Somerset.
The Church was medieval and the plaque within the coffer refers to the year 1400.It is not known when the coffer was actually made but from its construction it appears some time ago.The coffer measures; width 50''/127cm, depth 22''/56cm, and height 30''/76.5cm.An age crack is present in the lid and certainly adds to this pieces authenticity.
