Coffer Chest Italian Walnut Cassone Mid 18th Century Dated 1744

Description

Here we have a wonderful Italian Walnut cassone dated to 1744. As you can see the chest has great colour and patina. The top has super grain and original hand forged strap hinges. with original iron side carrying handles. The chest is constructed with large chunky dovetails. There is a single plank to the top, sides, base and front. There is a shaped frieze to the front of the base which is nicely dated 1744. There are sledge feet typical of the period. Internally there is a candle box and plenty of storage space. There are some old historic worm holes to the chest as you would expect but nothing live. A fantastic period chest in great retail condition ready for your home. The dimensions are approx 53 inches wide 27.5 high and 24 deep.
