Sixteenth Century Italian Walnut Cassone

Description

A late sixteenth century Italian walnut armorial cassone. Deeply carved and panelled front. Good rich colour. Formerly part of the furnishings of Flaxley Abbey, Gloucestershire. Printed delivery label of 'Lenygon & Morant, 31, Old Burlington St. London' on the back. Inscribed in pencil 'Front Landing' etc.

In good overall condition. As would be expected for a piece of this age there are some replacements to the structural wood of the base and lower back and old replacement hinges, but all the main elements are original.
