Description

An absolutely superb quality large Georgian trunk in mahogany. This beautiful general purpose 18th century storage coffer of impressive proportions at nearly 50” wide, is comprised of a lift-up lid opening on its original hinges and with its original adjustable-angle stay that keeps it open when in use. It retains its handsome solid brass lifting handles to each end, and there is a working key to the original fitted lock. It has superbly well-figured timbers retaining an untouched finish with a rich warm colour, and a glowing patina. This top quality example of English cabinetmaking dating from the mid-George III era, c.1790, represents a fine investment.
